Player Draft Process – Ontario Eastern United Little League
Ontario Eastern United Little League uses approved Little League® draft methods to place players on teams each season. This process begins after player evaluations conclude.
Player Evaluations
All players in divisions above Tee Ball are required to attend at least one player evaluation.
Evaluations help managers assess skill levels for division placement and to ensure a fair and balanced draft.
If a player cannot attend and provides a reason acceptable to the Board of Directors, that player may enter the standard draft. If a reason is not provided or not acceptable, the player will be placed in the unassessed draft pool.
Draft Format (Plan A)
Ontario Eastern United Little League uses Draft Option 1 (Plan A) for divisions that conduct evaluations.
Under this format:
- Draft order is in reverse order of finish from the previous season
- The last-place team selects first in every round
- The process continues until all rosters are full
Divisions using Plan A:
- A
- AA
- AAA
- Majors
- Juniors
- Seniors
Draft Order Changes
If returning teams from the prior season are not the same (due to new teams, merged teams, or removed teams), draft order will be determined by blind draw using manager names.
Unassessed Players
Players who do not attend evaluations and do not provide an acceptable reason will not enter the standard Plan A draft pool.
These players will be placed in a blind draft pool, and managers will select from that pool in an order determined by blind draw to ensure fairness.
Tee Ball Division
Tee Ball does not conduct evaluations. Tee Ball rosters are formed using Draft Plan C, which considers:
- League age
- Safety
- Roster balance
- Division headcount
